The Anti Craft Laser (AA) is a 2x2 defense room unlocked at level five. It's the only starship room able to shoot and destroy enemy Crafts launched from the Hangar, making it a big target for Hangar users.
The Anti Craft Laser can be a very risky room to use. One AA by itself usually can't defend against experienced Hangar users, and the two maximum power can allow for easy hull damage when focus fired. Thus, it is important to Armor the AA as much as possible and situate it near repair Crew. Despite the risks, the AA is still the best counter to the Hangar, with minimal power consumption and a fast reload speed.
When To Use
When to use the Anti Craft Laser usually depends on a lot of things. Generally, players recommended waiting until level eight when two AA rooms are available. With only one AA, the enemy could simply EMP it, negating its use entirely. With two AAs, one AA will always be shooting unless the player is unlucky with targetting. In addition, AAs shouldn't be prioritized if the player cannot handle being focus fired on a 2x2 room.
Below is an AI command that automatically depowers the Anti Craft Laser when there are no enemy Crafts currently launched. Since the AA only targets Crafts, there is no need to power it when there are none. When used, this AI command can help save quite a bit of power.
