The Disintegrator Gate is essentially the purchasable equivalent of the Zaki Tentacle Garden. It costs 150 Doves Points, shares the exact same stats, and cannot be purchased if the player already has the Zaki Tentacle Garden.

In Combat

Since the Disintegrator Gate has the same stats as the Zaki Tentacle Garden, it shares the exact same drawbacks and advantages. The DG can hold 2 Crew and a Module, making it easier to defend. Its three power consumption is like a doubled edged sword, it boosts the DG's survivability but also makes it very expensive for combat. The DG should be placed near commonly boarded rooms like the Small Reactor, Shield Generator, etc.

When To Use

Since the Disintegrator Gate can be obtained much earlier than the Zaki Tentacle Garden, it sees more use, albeit very little. The DG is still very ineffective in the end-game due to its inadequate damage and high power consumption. Early to mid game players may not be able to afford the DG, but if they do, most only buy it to gain an upper hand against enemy Teleport ships.

Below is an AI command that automatically depowers the Disintegrator Gate when the enemy Teleport is destroyed or not present. Since the DG only damages enemy boarders, there is no need to power it when the Teleport isn't functioning. However, there are 2 main drawbacks when using this AI command. If the enemy Teleport has no Crew inside of it, the DG will still be powered. In addition, this does not take into account any boarders already on your ship.

Enemy Teleport HP > 0% -> Increase Power By 1
None -> Set Zero Power

A more advanced version of the above AI command can be unlocked after researching Python 3.x. It's much better at saving power when compared to the previous one since it isn't affected by its drawbacks. However, that doesn't mean it has no drawbacks of its own. If an enemy boarder beams onto your ship, there is a small window of opportunity where they can walk in the DG without taking damage.

Friendly Room Has Enemy -> Increase Power By 1
None -> Set Zero Power

Crew Interactions

The Disintegrator Gate cannot be buffed with crew.
