The Plasma Discharger is a 3x2 Weapon room unlocked at level seven. It deals more damage to Crew than any laser previously unlocked, but requires Gas to fire. It consumes a small amount of Gas every time it fires and can be refilled instantly outside of battle.
As long as its Gas ammo is refilled, the Plasma Discharger fires a projectile that deals significant Crew Damage on hit without sacrificing Shield or System Damage.
When To Use
The Plasma Discharger provides a large boost in DPS and Crew-killing capability on all ships and is a crucial component for gunships. The Plasma Discharger is also commonly used to replace Bolters at level 7, to remove the defensive vulnerability of the Bolters without sacrificing much DPS in exchange.
AI for rooms like the Plasma Discharger is relatively straightforward. As long as the Plasma Discharger's AI is targeting the same rooms in conjunction with the other weapons on a player’s ship, it should be fine.
