The Shipyard is where you can buy/ upgrade ships. Buying new ship requires you to pay 
Starbux and have the pre-requisite Research(es). For ships without a Faction, you will also require a blueprint. Upgrading your hull level costs 
Minerals, and upgrades the hull level of both your current ship, your owned ships and all ships you may purchase in future. To extend your ship also costs Minerals. In the Shipyard, you may also switch to hulls you have previously bought. The information about the costs of purchasing/ upgrading each ship can be found through here.
